Casinos in Upstate New York start firing people because of the coronavirus

As a result of the continued closures of huge casino resorts in the eastern part of the state that have been attributed to the coronavirus, it has been claimed that more than 4,200 individuals in upstate New York have been informed that they are to be made officially redundant.

Rivers Casino and Resort Schenectady, Tioga Downs Casino Resort, Del Lago Resort and Casino, and Resorts World Catskills Casino Resort have all reportedly been closed since March 15 as part of an effort to help stop the spread of a coronavirus pandemic that has so far killed over 32,000 New York residents, according to a report that was published on Monday by the local Times Herald-Record newspaper. This effort is part of an effort to help stop the spread of a pande

Negative effects of scarcity:

According to a report by the Times Herald-Record, this state-mandated action ultimately resulted in the four venues placing virtually all of their staff on temporary furloughs, which are reportedly scheduled to terminate towards the end of the month of August. It was supposedly thought that this temporary closure wouldn't last more than a few weeks, but since then, "The Empire State" has kept the casinos closed since it has been unable to keep its daily infection rate below 500.

Responsibility of the Operator:

It has been reported that the commercial casinos have now issued a large number of Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) letters. These letters are a federal requirement for any business that is simultaneously laying off more than 50 employees and are required to be issued when there is no official indication from New York Governor Andrew Cuomo (pictured) as to when they may be permitted to re-open. These notifications allegedly indicate that Tioga Downs Casino Resort aims to let go of around 900 employees, while Rivers Casino and Resort Schenectady is planning to reduce its workforce by approximately 1,000 people.

The situation is even more dire at Del Lago Resort and Casino, where nearly 1,100 jobs are scheduled to be lost, while Resorts World Catskills Casino Resort appears to be on track to make approximately 1,256 individuals redundant. All of these layoffs are rumored to follow the little over 950 staff members who lost their employment as a result of the ongoing coronavirus lockdown at the facility that is still closed at Resorts World Casino New York City.

Admirable aspiration:

The newspaper reported that the Resorts World Catskills Casino Resort, which is owned by the Kien Huat Realty investments arm of the Asian casino giant Genting Malaysia Berhad, indicated that it would be looking to re-hire as many of its redundant staff as possible once the threat of coronavirus had passed. Kien Huat Realty is an investment arm of Genting Malaysia Berhad.

According to a statement that was reportedly read out by Resorts World Catskills Casino Resort...

"Unfortunately, some weeks after we stopped doing business in March, we were forced to make the tough choice to place some of our staff on unpaid furlough. As a necessary step in this process, we are at this point obliged by the law to send WARN letters to the employees who are currently on furlough. As our plans for reopening progress, we will continue to keep you informed of any relevant changes. When we receive word that we will be permitted to reopen, we will immediately begin implementing any and all processes that are required and will do all in our power to bring our wonderful employees back to work.

Contagion concerns:

However, the man behind Tioga Downs Casino Resort, Jeff Gural, reportedly told the Times Union newspaper yesterday that Cuomo may actually be doing more harm than good because many of his enterprise's customers are now actually traveling to enjoy gambling at local tribal casinos or commercial facilities located in neighboring states. Gural's comments were reportedly made in response to the fact that many of his enterprise's customers are now actually traveling to enjoy gambling at commercial facilities located in neighboring states. Mohegan Sun Pocono, which is located in Pennsylvania, is only about a two-hour drive away from the Tioga County venue. Additionally, the Oneida Indian Nation's Turning Stone Resort Casino, Yellow Brick Road Casino, and Point Place Casino, which are located in a similar proximity, reportedly started reviving operations on June 10, followed by the Seneca Nation of Indians' Seneca Niagara Resort and Casino, Seneca Buffalo Creek Casino, and Seneca Allegany Resort and

According to reports, Gural declared...

It may sound contradictory, but keeping the casinos in the upstate areas closed really makes the situation less safe. There is no question in our minds that the majority of our clients are not idly waiting at home for us to resume business. They just get in their vehicles and go to casinos located in regions with a far higher transmission rate.
