IGT announces the launch of PlaySports' sports betting platform in America

International Game Technology (IGT), a provider of global lottery and gaming technologies, has stated that it now occupies a key position within the newly-regulated American sportsbetting sector. This comes after IGT put out its PlaySports solution to venues in nine different states.

The company, which has its headquarters in London, announced on Tuesday through an official press release that its business-to-business PlaySports advance is now being used by more than 30 land-based sportsbooks located in the states of Pennsylvania, New York, Iowa, West Virginia, Nevada, Indiana, New Jersey, Mississippi, and Rhode Island. The business-to-business PlaySports advance is also anticipated to be made available to establishments in the states of Illinois, Arkansas, and Oregon in the near future.

Extensive acceptance:

IGT claimed that PlaySports is an innovation in over-the-counter retail sportsbetting that enables punters to place pre-match and in-play wagers on a variety of sports including basketball, American football, and ice hockey. The innovator has stated that the technology is the driving force behind the sportsbooks at venues such as the Resorts World Catskills Casino Resort in New York. The developer also stated that the technology is the driving force behind mobile sports betting at establishments in the states of New Jersey, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, Nevada, Rhode Island, and Mississippi.

PASPA possibilities:

After the repeal of the Professional and Amateur Sports Protection Act (PASPA) in 2018, which was a piece of legislation that had largely been responsible for limiting sportsbooks to casinos in the state of Nevada, legalized sportsbetting became more widespread throughout the United States.
